Emergency workers pulled a woman and her child from a destroyed SUV.
The accident shut down the W Road for over an hour Wednesday afternoon.
"The Waldens Ridge emergency services did an extraction on the Porsche, got those parties out, then they were packaged, and transported to the hospital," said Investigator Eddie Sledge.
The Mazda and porsche both destroyed from the head on crash on the windy narrow mountain road.
A Mazda sports car like vehicle was traveling down the mountain for reasons that are under investigation at this time, they crossed the center line, going into the north bound lane where they struck a porsche SUV," Sledge said.
From the driver of the Mazda Brandon Rich's point of view, it was a quick distraction that turned into a dangerous scenario.
"I was driving down the W road and asked my friend to hold the wheel and to grab some sunflower seeds and when I look up we're in the other lane. I try to swerve as fast as I can but it wasn't fast enough and we hit the other car," said Rich.
He said the woman and child were both shaken up but didn't appear to be seriously injured and he's learned a valuable lesson from a situation that could've been much worse.
"Do not let your friends drive for you. Make sure you drive by yourself, or not drive by yourself, but make sure you're driving and not your friend in the passenger seat," Rich said.
