CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Police arrested the man who acted as an alleged accomplice during an attempted robbery that turned fatal.
Galen Allen Jr., 26, of Chattanooga is now facing charges that include: attempted murder, aggravated robbery and assault.
According to a police affidavit, Allen and Calvin Ward allegedly tried to rob Jaden Archer, 35.
It all happened Wednesday night inside a Bi-Lo grocery store parking lot on the 4500 block of Highway 58.
Archer and Ward reportedly made arrangement to met outside the Bi-Lo where Ward was supposed to sell Archer four Microsoft tablets for $1000.
At some point, the two men sat inside the same car when Ward allegedly pulled a gun on Archer and demanded his money. The two men got into a fist fight when Allen allegedly attempted to pull archer out of the vehicle then knocked him down while Archer was fighting for his life.
Archer, who is a lawful gun owner and carrier retrieved his firearm and fatally shot Ward.
Allen reportedly jumped into a gray van and pulled out a handgun. Fearing for his life, Archer reportedly fired into the driver side window of the van where he struck Allen in the upper back.
Allen reportedly sped off in the van which was eventually located with blood in the driver's seat and shattered glass.
Allen showed up at the Erlanger emergency room with the keys to the van in his possession.
Detectives later recovered a check stub from Ward's bag that was addressed to Allen.
Allen remain in jail on a $470,000 bond.
