CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Twas the day after Christmas and all through the store; some shoppers were returning gifts others were buying more.

Now that Christmas has come and gone, it's time for that post holiday tradition of returning or exchanging gifts.

"My mom bought the wrong size so I'm going to try an pick out the one that actually fit," said Marina Curry who was with her mom at the mall.

For some people like Rebecca Kidd, post holiday shopping is about spending all that cash she received inside Christmas cards.

"My family gives me money because I go shopping after Christmas to get all the stuff I want," Kidd said.

And then there are the post holiday sales. Who can turn their back on merchandise marked 80-percent off.

"Mostly everything in the stores are 20 to 40 percent cheaper than what they were a week ago," said Antonio Boston who was shopping for good deals

According to many female shoppers, Victoria Secret was offering some of the best post holiday sales inside Hamilton Place Mall.

"They always have really good deals on bras. They have their buy one get one 50% off. You end up spending $80 compared to $120. They also have bras on sale so I got one for $30 and it's usually like $50," Kidd said.

But Victoria Secret isn't the only store attracting deal seekers.

"Bath & Body has great deals. Hallmark always has wonderful deals," said Teresa Tatum.

Post Christmas shopping has also become a big hit for people who can't deal with the the holiday rush between Black Friday and Christmas Eve.

"When it's like the holiday rush, you could not get me out here on Christmas Eve," Tatum said.

"Come during Christmas, traffic is bad. People park any kind of way. People park in handicapped spots. The mall is very congested. The food area is very congested but today, the sales are and people are shopping and everyone is happy getting in and out," Boston said.

So it's safe to say the rush is over at least until the fourth Friday of November 2014.
