A Hamilton County toddler is dead after a a self inflected gun shot.
Investigators say the shooting occurred Thursday evening at a home in the 65-hundred block of River Stream Road.
Authorities say 2-year old Brennan Nowell died from his injures.
Earlier on Friday, grieving family members showed up at the house but did not want to comment on what happened.
Detectives say the toddler was playing with his grandfathers gun when it accidentally went off.
Gun instructor Joe Kochis says gun security is essential to preventing this type of tragedy.
"You buy or own a firearm. Your totally responsible for what that firearm does or doesn't do. you have to secure it. If it's not in your hand or on your body you have to secure it"
So far, no charges have been filed against the gun owner.
