48-year old Dana Wilkes was first reported missing on November 10th of 2012.
Her son Robert Boulware testified in court his mother was a severe diabetic, and her disappearance was unusual.
Three hours after first being reported missing, the woman's Green Jeep was found on Wilcox Boulevard.
The vehicle was the first clue in the case.
Police on the scene quickly noticed what was inside the vehicle.
Patrol Officer Charles Decker explained in court what they found.
"Looked to be blood spatter on the front passenger side of the vehicle."
It would be another two weeks until the dismembered body of Dana Wilkes would be found near the corner of Youngstown Road and Lightfoot Mill Road.
Tony Bigoms was a long time friend of the Wilkes family.
He admitted he had ridden in her car, and was with her the night before her disappearance.
He faces charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse.
But defense attorney's say just because Bigoms was seen with the woman, doesn't mean he killed her.
Judge Barry Steelman told the jury the murder trial could last into next week.
