Tri-State crematory victims memorial finalized
The memorial site for the hundreds of uncremated bodies has been finalized.
The site is located at the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery in Rossville. The memorial was built with a 45 thousand dollar grant. The memorial consists of two Salisbury pink marble engraved stones from North Carolina that surrounds the original donated stone. Bebe Heiskell, Walker County Commissioner said, "We took the money and I took some bids on it and when I learned the things that would be required of the cemetary for those other bidders I realized the cemetary was the best people and the best ones to do the actual monument."
The area also has 11 trees surrounding the monument blocks, a flower bed and two benches for reflection.
