WDEF News 12 has learned that Volkswagen will reveal expansion plans for the Chattanooga plant Monday.

Three independent sources confirm Chattanooga will be awarded the new SUV line.  The formal announcement could take place at the plant as early as Monday morning.

Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn decided in January the automaker would build the "Crossblue" midsize SUV for the American market.  Many auto industry insiders had seen Chattanooga and Mexico as the front runners for the vehicle.

Last summer, Tennessee offered Volkswagen incentives of nearly $300-million, in exchange for 1,300 full-time jobs associated with the new SUV.

The expansion plans will be revealed almost 6-years to the day that Volkswagen first announced it would build the Passat, mid-sized sedan, for the U.S. market in Chattanooga.

It will likely be 2016 before the Crossblue hits the market.

UPDATE on 7/14: You can see the announcement live right here beginning at 8:00am.
