EAST RIDGE, Tennessee(WDEF) - East Ridge residents living on the 3900 block of Fountain Avenue are not only without water but also dealing with a flooded roadway and deep water on their property.

Around 2:30 Sunday morning, a water main broke near the intersection of Fountain Avenue and Belvoir Avenue.

"I had to move my car out of the way because the flooding was coming very quickly and we were concerned about my car," said Ernestine Heard who's house is right in front of the water main break.

Crews are working around the clock to fix the problem but it may be while before things are back to normal.

Lea Jolley suffered some minor damage to personal items that were stored in her garage when water came seeping under the door. But that only caused half of her frustration.

"The frustrating thing now is that we are without water and we don't know how long we will be without water. We have several disabled neighbors and so I went out and purchased gallons of water for them to use in their homes because they are not able to leave their own homes," Jolley said.

"No water is on at this time so we've had to take matters in our own hands for bathing and stuff like that," said Heard.

There is no word on how long it will take before things are back to normal.
