(WDEF)      Loftis Middle School Principal Brent Eller was surprised to be named Middle School Principal of the year by the Hamilton County Council of PTAs.
Eller has a demanding job, and works many hours.
But he's quick to deflect attention away from himself.
"You wear many hats. It calls for a lot of responsibilities that fall on your shoulders. For me to stand out and say that I do something that others do not do, I think would be wrong to say. But the job in itself is a difficult job. It's a rewarding job to see teachers, to see students in your buildings succeed, which is what we all want."
Loftis faced a challenging school year.
Back in September, two juveniles broke into the school, vandalized the building, and set fire to part of it.
But 6th Grade Math Teacher Lorrie Holland says nothing seems to stop Mr. Eller from doing his job.
"He always has the purpose that we need to take care of, which is educating our students. He supports us in the classroom with students, with parents. That allows you to make a difference in the classroom because it allows you to focus on the teaching part of your job."
