CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF) - College student Chad Henderson, who was in the world spotlight last week, is challenging national news organizations to prove that he was intentionally deceiving them.
Henderson says he still intends to buy a policy under the so-called Obamacare program, but right now he just wants to set the record straight after a turbulent week.

CHAD HENDERSON, COLLEGE STUDENT "Its been twisted, its been distorted, its been manipulated ...and the way they wrote the articles made it seem like I had purchased insurance...when I never said that to begin with."

You've probably heard the story---young Chad Henderson found himself the darling-for-a-day of the national media, when he tweeted that he had successfully negotiated the website, and enrolled himself and his father in the Affordable Health care plan.
Chad says he started at midnight October 1st and finished at 3 a.m.
Even the President's office took notice but Huffington Post, The Washington Post and others accused Henderson of not being truthful when it was learned he never actually bought a policy.

CHAD HENDERSON "...I asked them, well, you know you have the transcripts of our phone call and none of them said I had indeed said I purchased insurance..so I'm not at fault here at all."

Henderson, who lives in Flintstone, Georgia with his father, is a 21-year old student at Chattanooga State.
He's made news before as a high school student who was politically active, and a strong supporter of Obama administration policies.
That led to charges that he misled others into believing he completed the insurance procedures, in order to push the President's agenda.

CHAD HANDERSON "I've seen some comments saying I was planted by the White House , like I'm some kind of made-up person that was ..being paid to do this ..nothing could be further from the truth."

But that has not stopped many of the national publications from holding firm to their belief that they were misled.

CHAD HENDERSON "I've gotten some personal attacks....unfairly I think."

Although Chad Henderson says he intends to buy health insurance under the plan, he's in no hurry.
He says he has until March to do so.
