Senator Bob Corker highlighted a foreign company that's made a big investment in Chattanooga Wednesday.
He toured the Alstom plant on Riverfront Parkway Wednesday afternoon.
The French company makes turbines for power plants.
Chattanooga's Alstom Plant has the capacity to make and test the world's largest turbines.
They can be used for fossil steam, nuclear and gas power plants.
The former Mayor of Chattanooga said he was pleased to see the plant's success.
He explained, "They go to great lengths to make sure that everything is perfect in that regard, and so I'm glad they're based here in Chattanooga and I'm glad we have these kind of jobs here. I'm glad that we are drawing people from around the world to this facility and it was a very inspiring tour."
Alstom recently won a contract to upgrade the steam turbines at all of American Electric Power's coal-fired power plants.
They're in Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia.
