(WDEF) We were hit with some heavy rain showers Wednesday afternoon.
Strong wings and sudden downpours came over the Tennessee Valley just after 3:00pm.
We filmed the heavy downpours outside our studios on South Broad Street.
Around 4:15pm, EPB reported about 1500 customers without power.
They were mostly in the North Chattanooga, Mountain Creek, Red Bank and Hixson areas.
2600 homes were without power at the height of the storm.
And in Athens, the heavy rain led to flooding.
Red Cross teams from Hamilton, Bradley and McMinn County are responding tonight.
