Two hundred lucky drivers got free gas this morning.
$20 worth.
They lined up early at the Corner Store on Dayton Boulevard for the giveaway, courtesy of Chattanooga area community bankers.
Local bankers manned the pumps.
It's part of an event going on in 20 cities across the country.
The goal of the national campaign is to raise awareness about consumer mistreatment from megabanks that charge you fees to access your money.
Joe Haskins, Chairman Capital Bank, "You can bank locally. You can bank with somebody you know and we aren't doing a lot of things that give the banks the black eye. I think we've all been lumped together where the community banks are still serving customers."
The giveaway was scheduled to last from 9 to 11 a-m.
But people showed up as early as 7 in the morning.
The free gas was gone in around 45 minutes.
