Amazon adding more than 5000 new jobs

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) - Amazon has announced the creation of 5,000 new jobs just one day before President Obama is scheduled to speak at an Amazon facility in Chattanooga.

According to Amazon spokesman Ty Rogers, the company is creating more than 5,000 new full-time jobs in its fulfillment network to meet growing customer demands.

The salary for these new jobs are expected to be 30-percent higher than the salaries of people who work in traditional retail stores.

The new positions will also come with comprehensive benefits that begin on the first day of work such as: health care, 401(k), company stock awards and a 95-percent prepaid tuition incentive for employees who wish to take college courses related to in-demand fields.

"We're hiring more than 5,000 people to join our team and help us continue to innovate and serve our customers," said Dave Clark, vice president of worldwide operations and customer service at Amazon.

Fulfillment network jobs are currently available in:

· Chattanooga, Tenn.
· Charleston, S.C.
· Chester, Va.
· Coppell, Texas
· Haslet, Texas
· Hebron, Ky.
· Indianapolis, Ind.
· Jeffersonville, Ind.
· Middletown, Del.
· Murfreesboro, Tenn.
· Patterson, Calif.
· Phoenix, Ariz.
· San Antonio, Texas
· San Bernardino, Calif.
· Spartanburg, S.C.
· Tracy, Calif.

Amazon is also currently hiring for more than 2,000 jobs across its customer service network, which include a mix of full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.Customer service jobs are currently available at customer service centers in:

· Grand Forks, N.D.
· Huntington, W.V.
· Kennewick, Wash.
· Winchester, Ky.

More low paying service industry jobs. Meanwhile, right here in Chattanooga, Alstom Power and its suppliers are laying off people due to Obama’s war on coal.
