CHATTANOOGA, TN. (WDEF) -- Even a casual observer could rightly say that Chattanooga is doing a lot of things right these days.
Leaders here in the Scenic City can boast about industrial development, thousands of new jobs, the fastest internet in the country, and plenty of outdoor amenities.
But the people who live here may not know that Chattanooga has now taken its place on the world stage.

Christopher Booker is a photo-journalist for the most prestigious financial publication in London.

CHRISTOPHER BOOKER, LONDON FINANCIAL TIMES "Each year at the Financial Times we produce a series about urban ingenuity, and so we look at different cities all over the world."

Booker had been watching Chattanooga from afar, until he decided to make the trip this week.
His informal guide was Jim Frierson, one of many business leaders who step up to open doors for visiting journalists who want to get the story first hand from the people who are making the decisions.

JIM FRIERSON, BUSINESS CONSULTANT "He had seen the CBS story on Chattanooga that Jeff Lorer did a few months ago." "He convinced his editor to allow him to come to Chattanooga and see for himself."

CHRISTOPHER BOOKER "So many cities are really trying to think about what can we's clear that Chattanooga is doing it..and that's what's so fascinating."

Some cities have to hire public relations companies to get visitors to say things like that.

CHRISTOPHER BOOKER "Chattanooga really seems to be on the cutting edge of having made some really smart civic decisions, some great business leadership...and now, who knows where this will go."

Booker says he's fascinated by all the entrepreneurs, the gig tank, and investments from foreign companies.
He calls it an "electric"time in Chattanooga.

JIM FRIERSON "This culture that has sprung up in the last 10 years ..That has created this dynamic. That's what he wanted to capture...and he's a video journalist."

If you'd like to see that story, Christopher Booker says he expects it to be online in late September and in the Financial Times in early October.
