RED BANK, Tennessee(WDEF) - Sofa King Juicy Burgers in Red Bank has become one of the most popular restaurants in town.

There was a time when the Waffle House at the intersection of Dayton Blvd. and Signal Mountain Rd. was one of the busiest places in town for the lunch and dinner time crowd but now Sofa King Juicy burgers, which is located right next door, is pulling in the big crowds of hungry stomachs.

"The burgers are delicious. And so is their liquid nitrogen ice cream," said one regular customer.

"We get the hamburgers and onion rings. They're really good," said another regular customer.

The popular burger joint has been open for two months and so far, its popularity is pulling in customers from all over the Tennessee Valley and beyond.

WDEF met up with Joe Campbell who drove 135 miles to try out the famous burgers after hearing rumors about it from family local members.

"I'm a burger connoisseur. I eat burgers from Myrtle Beach to Florida to Arizona,"Campbell said.

"I heard a lot of friends talk about it and now I'm looking forward to a good burger," said another patron who walked through the door for the first time.

Unlike most fast food places, SKJB only sells burgers that come from locally grass fed cows.

WDEF was invited behind into the kitchen to see how the burgers were prepared.  They were not frozen patties that were taken from a box but rather lumps of ground beef shaped by hand, thrown on the griddle the heavily seasoned.

Another popular item at SKJB is the onion rings. The onion rings are fried in Aretha Frankensteins Pancake batter so they have a sweetness to them.

The owner of SKJB has a partnership with the owner of Aretha Frankensteins restaurant.

Another popular staple at SKJB are the milk shakes. They're made with liquid nitrogen so the texture is more like homemade ice cream.

It may sound a little obscure but when you meet the owner, who wore a ski mask and goggles during our interview, you realize obscurity and re-inventing fast food is what it's all about.

"It is what it is. That's our motto. It is what it is," said the owner who prefers to go by Sofa King Anonymous.

The owner said on any given day SKJB can be a standing room only restaurant with people feeding into their burger addiction.

"They're burger zombies. Knocking on the window scratching at the door," he said.

Sometimes the demand for those famous burgers is so great, the restaurant is forced to close early when all the beef runs out. But don't expect grandma to yell "Where's the beef," like in that Wendy's commercial from 1984. When they reopen the next day, there is more fresh beef for all those burger zombies.

Thank You, Mindy. it just shows the ridiculous lengths some people will go to simply to get recognition.

Anything from Dub's Place just a short drive up Dayton Blvd is MUCH better!

They may have the best food in town however neither my family or I will EVER eat there because of the name that is chosen for the establishment. I am very dissappointed in the name that was chosen. I do not want to have to explain to my 8 and 5 year old the name or worse yet hear them say it with the syllables in the wrong place and say what your intention was for such a ridiculous name. It makes me sad that it could not be named something that I would be proud to say has the best burgers in town and we go there on a regular basis BUT that is not the case.
