BRADLEY COUNTY, Tennessee--(WDEF) A student pilot who was thrown from an airplane Friday afternoon has been located by authorities in Bradley County.
According to Bradley County Sheriff public information officer Bob Gault, the student pilot was found a half block north of the Maroon Branch Fire Station in Bradley County around 11:30 Saturday morning.
Authorities said 77-year-old Timothy Richardson of Chattanooga was flying a Zodiac 601 with an instructor when the plane went into a nose dive. Authorities said Richardson was thrown from the plane and fell more than 2,000 feet to his death.
The instructor managed to regain control of the aircraft and land it at Collegedale airport.
Authorities said neither occupants were wearing safety restraints during the ordeal.
Federal authorities are now investigating the incident.
