SAND MOUNTAIN ELECTRIC COOPERATIVE
MENTONE & VALLEY HEAD
PLANNED POWER OUTAGE
The TVA transmission line that serves Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative’s Mentone and Valley Head substations sustained damage during the storms and high winds on Monday, March 18.
In order for TVA to make repairs, a planned power outage on the transmission line and the two substations is required. The outage will begin about midnight on Friday, March 29. Provided there are no unexpected problems all power should be restored in these areas by 4 a.m. Saturday, March 30.
SMEC personnel will be on hand for the repairs, but only on standby since TVA employees will be performing the work on their equipment.
As always, the co-op regrets any inconvenience to members in these areas. The equipment repairs are vital to the efficiency of the substation and to avoid unscheduled outages due to equipment failure in the future.
