This morning at approximately 8:05 a.m. a traffic crash involving a 1997 Ford Ranger and a Rural Metro Ambulance was reported in the 12000 block of Highway 58. When Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene they found that the Ford Ranger truck and ambulance collided head on. The ambulance was transporting a special needs child to a doctor’s appointment (non emergency) south bound on Highway 58. The 1997 Ford Ranger was traveling north bound in the south bound lane for unknown reasons.
The driver of the 1997 Ford Ranger truck identified as Misty Browning age 29 and the passenger Jennifer Friddell age 30 both of Georgetown, Tennessee were pronounced dead at the scene. The five occupants of the Rural Metro Ambulance were transported to area hospitals and treated for minor injuries and released.
The investigation into the traffic crash is on-going and being handled by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division.
A pickup truck collided with an EMS Unit on Highway 58 this morning killing two people.
Hamilton County Emergency Services Director Ken Wilkerson says the crash involved a Rural Metro Ambulance coming from McMinn County.
The two people who died were in the truck.
It's not clear how the accident happened yet.
There were 5 people in the ambulance, including a special needs person.
All were shaken-up.
Janice Atkinson, Hamilton Co. Sheriff's Dept., "The signs at the crash...the crash..shows that the pickup truck was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of highway 58. They live in this area.
Reporter, "Can you say the ages?
Atkinson, "They are in their 20's"
Authorities say the people in the EMS unit were taken to a hospital.
Their injuries were not life-threatening injuries.
No names have been released.
