"No tobacco" signs will soon be placed throughout The City of East Ridge. This decision came after a city council meeting Thursday night.

The tobacco ban will include all city properties. Smokers will not be allowed to light up anywhere on grounds including Camp Jordan and City Hall.

Wayne Lambert, an East Ridge Park goer said, "My wife and my daughter in law both are allergic to the smoke and when you got people down at Camp Jordan, even though its out in the open, if you're sitting in the bleachers, it's going to be around them"

Cigarette butts now cover the walking trail and parking lots at the venues. That should change when the ban goes into effect October first. Anyone found smoking on East Ridge property will be subject to a fifty dollar fine.

East Ridge SHOULD START being concerned about the decline in their neighborhoods. The adult stores, tattoo shops, firecracker stores next.......etc. I have lived in ER all my life and I am ashamed of how the city has allowed the area to go down. The tax payors need to rally and demand that that good ole boy system ER has in place goes away. ER COULD BE an amazing city, it is just off of the 75/24 exchange. ER has attracted no major resturants such as Chili's, Fridays, Red Lobster, etc only low class motels which only attracts drug traffic and dopers. WAKE UP EAST RIDGE SAVE YOUR CITY. Cigarette butts should be the last thing on your mind!!!!!!!
