CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee -(WDEF) An explosion at Harrison State Park Marina
caused some tense moments for boaters whose boats were within feet of the flames.
According to Hamilton County EMS public information, Amy Maxwell, A boater was awakened by a loud explosion just after 6 a.m.
"When he awoke, he got out and saw that one of the boats was already fully involved and as a result he was unable to get off the dock. He was able to take his boat and pull it away from the main dock to the G dock where park officials were able to come over and pick him up as well," Maxwell said.
The explosion occurred on the F dock where two boats were destroyed. Maxwell said two other boats suffered damage.
Fire crews from several departments worked the blaze while a Hamilton County hazmat team worked to contain fuel leaking from the boats that were destroyed.
