Chattanooga emergency crews evacuate 241 residents at Patten Towers, after an electrical fire broke out late last night in the basement of the building.

The basement filled with black smoke and the intense flames shot the temperature up to 1,500 degrees.

Firefighters used dry powder extinguishers to get most of the blaze under control, but had to cut power to the building to keep the fire from re-igniting.

Carta brought in four-buses to relocate residents to the Brainerd Recreation Center, where the American Red Cross set up a shelter.
