Some local kids got a lesson in the true meaning of Christmas.
And it came from a group of fellow students.
News 12's Nordia Epps takes us to Orchard Knob Elementary for the annual gift giving celebration
Orchard Knob Student, "I got a baby with a stroller and a bottle."
These are gifts....
Taylor Rogers, "It's the most important thing in the world, most important thing"
That give back.
Brianna LaFew, Silverdale Baptist Academy, "It's very important to me because we get a lot of things and giving back is really important and what God wants us in our legacy to leave here."
Some 200 students from Silverdale Baptist Academy came to school on their day off...to spread some Christmas Cheer.
It's the second year they've stopped by Orchard Knob Elementary school loaded down with gifts for every student at the school...and then some.
Becky Hansard, Head Master Silverdale Baptist Academy, "The money has multiplied. We've been able to do over and above what we did last year so we've been able to get gift certificates for the teachers to Star Bucks and we've been able to even help some families from Orchard Knob with their entire Christmas."
It may be the only Christmas gift some Orchard Knob students get this year... But principal LaFrederick Thirkill says it's about more than just their presents...it's their presence.
LaFrederick Thirkill, Orchard Knob Elementary School, "What we try to stress is that Christmas isn't about toys so the best part of the Christmas gift they're receiving today is the gift of sharing and caring from the students at Silverdale."
And the caring and sharing goes both ways.
Hansard, "Everybody wins because the students here get a gift and they win they see that we love them and care about them and the our students learn how to give to others and so that is a win win."
More 600 students attend Silverdale Baptist Academy located on Bonny Oaks Drive in Chattanooga.
