HIXSON, Tennessee -(WDEF) All of Chattanooga will soon have a new wireless radio controlled LED street lighting system and hundreds of new jobs are being created in Hamilton county to make those lights.

Global Green Lighting is relocating its production line from China back to Hamilton County. GGL recently acquired a 180,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Hixson and set up production lines to build high tech energy and cost efficient street lights. Relocating the production line to Hixson means 250 new jobs will be created.

"It took the commitment of being willing to sacrifice profit margins in order to make this happen. We're committed to creating the jobs and not the profit," said Global Green Lighting CEO Don Lepard.

A hand full of workers have already been hired to build the high tech street lights which are scheduled to replace the older lights in Chattanooga. Lepard said there is also a demand for the same lighting system in other cities.

"Were working with the city of Tuscaloosa on their new green way and we have 26 other cities in addition to Chattanooga that are currently interested in the product," Lepard said.

If the demand continues to increase, Lepard said it could create a scenario that would require GGL to increase it's production staff to 500.
