Drivers be warned.  Many of the roadways in and around the Chattanooga area troublesome this morning.

Firefighters and Public Works crews have been barricading streets in the downtown area, including 23rd at 4th and Kelly, as the rain continues to pour.

Officials deem those routes impassable due to water over the roadway, and they advise the public to use cautions traveling:

Barricaded: 9000 Dallas Hollow Road, 10200 Hamby Road, 2100 Green Pond Road, and 2814 Igou Ferry Road.

Water on Roadway: 6500 Hunter Road, 9100 Ooltewah Georgetown Road, 8100 Smith Road, 6800 Shorttail Springs Road, 10600 Dolly Pond Road, and 9600 Snowhill Road.

There is a tree across the roadway at 2318 Gold Point Circle.

Rhea County Schools closed today and Walker County will be on a two hour delay.

Despite heavy flooding around Clifton Hills Elementary, only Central High School and Loftis Middle School in Hamilton County are closed today.  Central has several portables that have water in them.  Loftis suffered damage from a fire and vandalism act early Monday.
