A write-in candidate for Walker County Commissioner may not be eligible for the office.
The County Attorney started an investigation into the finances of Ales Campbell.
The Election Superintendent got a call that Campbell owed taxes.
Under Georgia law that disqualifies a person from holding office.
After an initial look, Walker County Attorney Don Oliver found records of delinquent taxes that might relate to the Campbell.
Now Oliver is recusing himself from the investigation.
Don Oliver, Walker Co. Attorney, "The chair of the Elections Board asked me not to recuse myself, but I felt that it was appropriate that I recuse myself from any further interpretation with what was on the public record."
The investigation is now in the hands of the Election Superintendent.
The board of election's next meeting is Friday.
Campell is running against current Commissioner Bebe Heiskell.
