This weekend we fall back... setting our clocks back an hour.
That means it's time for a life-saving reminder.
Local fire officials want to make sure that as you change your clock... you change the batteries in your smoke alarms.
Fire officials will tell you most fire fatalities happen at home.
And Dalton Fire Chief Bruce Satterfield says in his experience most deadly fires have something else in common.
Bruce Satterfield, Dalton Fire Chief, "When we answer structure fires in residential properties and there are working smoke alarms we find those families in the front yard already evacuated. When we retrieve bodies from homes that have had fires, there either is no smoke alarm or the smoke alarm has no batteries."
And statistics back it up.
Georgia's Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens told the Dalton Rotary club that so far this year 45 people died in fires in the Peach State...42 of them in homes without a working smoke alarm.

Hudgens donated two dozen alarms to the Dalton Fire Department...as a part of Operation Safe Home.
The program gives free smoke detectors to qualified citizens who need them.
Hudgens, "The legislature has passed a law saying that you're supposed to have a smoke detector in every bedroom. Why? Because you can get overcome with smoke and you can become a fatality."
Along with changing the batteries in your smoke alarm when you change your clocks, fire officials suggest having routine home fire drills and smoke alarm checks.
Satterfield, "We recommend testing those alarms at least monthly, possibly weekly to ensure that you have early warning to wake you up in time to get you out of your house."
Daylight saving time ends this Sunday at 2 a.m..
That's when clocks are set back one hour.
