(WDEF) Wendy Jaynes works as an Internal Recruiter for Beaulieu of America. She said, "The excitement is in the air and we're ready to put people to work."
Organizers opened the doors early for Wednesday's Beaulieu of America job fair since so many people came ahead of the 9:00am start time.
Andrew Everett was one of the hundreds who turned out for the 150 positions.
He said, "It makes me very optimistic, you know. There are jobs out there but you've got to be aggressive. If you're looking for a job it's almost a full time job to find one."
Jaynes added, "We're anxiously looking for the best of the best to fill those positions and get some great opportunity for the folks."
The jobs up for grabs at Beaulieu cover just about every field. Jaynes explained, "Extrusion operators, curlers, warpers, supervisors of all kinds, we're looking for electronic technicians, maintenance techs, engineers, customer service. A little bit of everything."
Everett hopes to leave the fair with a position in security. He said, "They're looking for everything so if you've got any experience or even if you're just entry level it's a good place to find one."
Job fairs like this could mean the Dalton area economy may be starting to turn around.
Jaynes said, "We'll always be the carpet capital., you know, of the world. So we've got some great opportunities here with the industry and now we're seeing an upswing and the growth is there. It's taken us a while to get there but we're seeing that light and we're very excited."
Everett has advice for his fellow job seekers: "Just try and stay positive. Be upbeat about it. The most important thing I can say is to be honest also. You know that's, these people are looking for people to hire so if you're out there just keep trying, really."
