Joyce Chapman, a neighbor, says, "It's horrible."

That is how Chapman describes her Sunday morning on East 44th Street.

Chapman adds, "I seen the paramedic run over there, and then after awhile I seen them pumping and trying to get him, but you could tell he was already dead."

Chattanooga Police say Artemis Balthazar, 18, took some of his last breaths here.

Officers found him outside his home with multiple stab wounds.

Chapman adds, "Somebody had to kill him, he didn't fall on a knife, and he didn't walk down the street, and he didn't visit folks down there. When he got out of his car, he went and visited him right over there."

Residents tell us Balthazar lived in a small apartment, and frequently visited with his neighbors next door.

Those neighbors did not want to talk on camera, and told us it is "a family matter."

Chapman adds, "Somebody over there and I hate to say it, somebody has to know who he was talking to over there or who he was with."

If they do know, they are not telling police.

Right now, investigators have no suspect information.

Andrea Wilson, a neighbor, says, "I shed some tears for the simple fact because I hate to see anybody get killed."

Wilson says she is sad and surprised all at the same time because she never heard fighting coming from the homes.

Wilson adds, "I never had no problem with them and they don't have problems with other people. They speak and sometimes they don't speak, they go on in the house and you never know when they're there and when they're not there."

With that being said, the question remains.

Chapman adds, "Who would want to kill him?"

If you have any information on this case, call Chattanooga Police.
