Dalton Man Charged With Steak Knife Assault

A Dalton man stands accused of threatening a deputy with a steak knife, as well as his wife.

According to the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office, Ronald Merrill, 45, is now behind bars without bond.

Merrill's wife says he put a steak knife up to her throat and threatened to kill her.

A deputy showed up and tried to separate the two.

When that happened, authorities say Merrill threatened the deputy with the knife.

Merrill was taken to a metal health facility and is facing five new charges.
