A jury convicts Jamaal Byrd of manslaughter in the shooting death of Terrance Etchison.
The case went to the jury yesterday.
Members reached a verdict late this morning and announced it this afternoon.
Byrd was on trial for first degree murder.
He's convicted of killing 27 year old Terrance Etchison with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The shooting happened at the Kanku's convenience store on the corner of Wilcox and Tunnel Boulevards in February of 2010.
The defense said it's a case of self defense, but the prosecution said Etchison was never armed.
