The Murray County woman who claims she was falsely accused of drug possession, is asking members of the Sheriff's department to come forward with any information about her case.
Angela Garmley accused former Magistrate Court Judge Bryant Cochran of impropriety last month.
She was later arrested for possession of methamphetamine, the day before Cochran resigned.
Charges against Garmley were dropped a few days later.
Her attorney asks county officers to..quote.."do the right thing."

MCCRACKEN POSTEN, GARMLEY'S ATTORNEY "I'm telling them to tell it to the GBI. That's who I want them to tell it to. The GBI is investigating there in Chatsworth...in the very building where the sheriff's department is located. They just need to not sit back..holding information inside. "

The unusual sequence of events that led up to the arrest and the dismissed drug charges against Angela Garmley, have left her neighbors in Murray county with a lot of questions.

SHERIFF HOWARD ENSLEY, MURRAY COUNTY "We want to find out the truth, and we want to find out if there's false or truth..what ever it may be."

With accusations of improper conduct aimed at the Murray county sheriff's department, Sheriff Howard Ensley says his office is cooperating with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

SHERIFF HOWARD ENSLEY "But at this point in time, we're still waiting on their investigation to be completed . At that point when we are revealed as to what the investigation revealed, we will, I promise you, take appropriate action."

By now, Angela Garmley's story is familiar to most people in the county.
She has maintained, through her attorney, that amphetamine was planted in a metal box under her car, and that a deputy waited on her and a companion to drive by to arrest them.
She says that happened after Chief Magistrate Judge Bryant Cochran had asked her to be his mistress
The GBI, was called in and quickly recommended charges against Garmley be dismissed.
Now, Murray county residents are not sure what to believe.

MERCEDAS DILLS, CHATSWORTH "I guess a lot of us in the county are hurt cause we put a lot of trust in this judge. You know, when he was elected in...when people get hired in for a job. We expect them to the standards they applied for."

FRANK WALKER, MURRAY COUNTY "There was so much controversy going on between her and the magistrate judge that was dismissed .....You know, you don't know, but you've got a feeling."

ROCKY DILLS, FRIEND OF JUDGE COCHRAN "They should get the rest of them that's involved in it...it's not just him."

An attorney for Magistrate Judge Cochran, says his client resigned because of questions surrounding pre-signed warrants in his office, and that Cochran doesn't know anything about Garmley's arrest or the dismissed drug charges.

The G-B-I has given no indication of how long that investigation may last.
