MARION COUNTY, Tennessee(WDEF) - The man found murdered on Highway 41 near the Hamilton County line remains a mystery to investigators with so many questions left unanswered.

Both the Marion County Sheriffs Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations want to know if anyone knew Jeffrey Jonathan Mora, 31, of Hurricane Utah. Investigators say they don't know why he died but they're positive foul play was involved.

"He was severely beaten and he was struck by a vehicle," said Marion County Sheriff Bo Burnett.

Very little is known about Mora but WDEF can confirm that he was born in California. He eventually moved to Utah where he was arrested a couple of times within the past two years. Mora was a father of four very young children and local authorities believe he moved to the Chattanooga area about six months ago. Despite those details, he still remains a mystery to investigators who initially had a hard time learning his identity.

"He was identified by fingerprints. We got some assistance a federal agency who identified him," said Sheriff Burnett.

There are so many unanswered questions as to why and how he arrived at a desolate location in the wee-hours of a Saturday morning.

"That's one of the questions we're hoping to get some help from the public. If anybody knows him. Why was he here? Anything that can help us on this case," said Sheriff Burnett.
