Walker County, GA (WDEF) Walker County deputies now have 58-year-old Steven Lee Waldemer in custody for allegedly killing K-9 "Tanja" and wounding deputy.

Officials say Waldemer was on parole from a kidnapping conviction in Idaho.

Walker County deputies executed a search warrant on alleged sexual assault by Waldemer.

They say Waldemer shot and killed "Tanja" and wounded her handler Deputy Donny Brown.
 when they attempted to enter suspect's trailer Friday.

Deputies fired gas into trailer, but it caught fire and the suspect escaped through a back window and avoided capture.

Bloodhounds from Hayes prison tracked the suspect through the woods.
He was captured lying in a field.

He was armed at the time of capture.
