It was public pressure and nothing more. The school system had already addressed this on their website with an educated answer stating that the girls were no where near the outbreak and in fact the school is closer to patients being treated at Emory than these girls would be to any patients on their trip. Also people fail to understand how Ebola actually works because a good portion of news networks(not saying you all) use scare tactics to make for a good story. Being in med school we have discussed this a lot and I understand that not everyone is as educated on this subject as I am which is fine i just wish those who don't actually study medicine for a living would stop pretending they understand anything about this supposed outbreak which might I add by technical standards doesn't qualify as an outbreak.

Wonder if WDEF would consider posting the entire Celebration of Luther's life here for those far and wide such as myself who grew up in Chattanooga?

1979 was 35 years ago. That was one family among many that he made a difference in their lives. He did a lot of good over the years. He certainly made his life count right up til the end. This world needs more men like Luther.

I have never watched, or heard Luther Masingill but I have heard of him for years. I work in the broadcast industry and have heard many great stories about this kind and gentle legend. Masingill embodied what every broadcaster should aspire to be. Chattanooga is a better place to live because of his dedication to his community. RIP Luther....we hardly knew ye...

Luther was a wonderful man and a true southern gentleman. Luther is the last of a generation of true hard working Americans. He was a fine example of a man to measure your own life by. If you are half as kind as Luther you are a great person yourself. Luther I will miss that distinct radio voice for the rest of my life. RIP Luther Masingill

I used to work overnights for 92.3 several years ago. Every morning, Luther brought me breakfast and always had a big smile and a warm greeting. If he had a critique, it was given with kindness and it was always clear that he was trying to help me improve. I never heard a harsh word from him. He was such a gentleman.

My deepest sympathy to the Masingill family and the entire news team 12 family(especially Chip Chapman with whom Luther had a special bond. When I was a small child I watched Luther everyday and he was a movie star to me here in Etowah, TN. That was 60 yrs ago. The noon news will not be the same without him. He will be missed at that time everyday of the week by my family. R.I.P. Luther
