(WDEF)  Workers get ready to open the new Ooltewah Elementary School this Thursday.
Most of the brand new 140,000 square foot space will house the K through 6th graders, but part of the building is set aside as infant childcare for teachers, faculty and staff in Hamilton County.
Principal Tom Arnold said, "Thursday the first day and its a big school.  We're gonna have a lot of cars.  First I ask for patience; both for the students and for the faculty. This is our first time and Thursday will be our first time in  this facility with students. So we ask for patience. We have a plan there, but the plans will always be subject to change."
This year, former Birchwood Elementary students will join the kids at Ooltewah elementary.
As News12 earlier reported, Birchwood consolidated with the new Ooltewah Elementary School.
