(WDEF) Chattanooga State's president says he didn't know federal wildlife agents would kill the geese they removed from the school's campus.
A report says the USDA's Wildlife Services program destroyed about 100 Canada geese they trapped at the school last week.
President Jim Catanzaro requested the removal because the animal's droppings caused a health hazard.
A spokesman for the program said the school was told the geese would either be placed elsewhere or euthanized.
He added since geese populations have exploded, there are fewer places the geese can go.
