Chickamauga City Schools search for a new Superintendent.
Four weeks into the school year Melody Day officially resigned her position.
She spend 12 years as superintendent.
Day made the announcement a month ago and has been preparing her replacement interim superintendent Stacy McDaniel to take over.
McDaniel says the transition has been smooth so far and its been a great start to the school year... despite ongoing challenges.
Stacy McDaniel, Interim Superintendent Chickamauga City Schools, "The budget cuts is one of the main ones. We've been cut every year and we got cut again this year, so just trying to make it on the money we have and still give the children the best education possible."
She says they're also watching class sizes... they're a little larger this year.
McDaniel is applying to get the superintendent job permanently.
The school system advertised the position internally... and will go outside if necessary.
The search should take two to three months.
