A fight in the hallways of Red Bank High before school started last week leaves one girl with a concussion and stitches behind her ear while the other girl is not hurt.
Both girls are suspended for 45 days.
Principal Justin Robertson says with more than 700 students, fighting sometimes happens, but they are working to reduce it.
"From the first semester of last school year to this first semester of this school year we've cut fighting by 45 percent, which is a pretty significant number," said Robertson.
So were these injuries a result of a bully?
We spoke to the girl, who was called a bully's older sister and she says no.
She says her sister never sent the other girl threatening Facebook
messages as her mother claimed, but that other students sent the messages, pushing for a fight.
Robertson said, "One of the biggest issues is the facebook and the twitters because things happen outside of school and we don't have a lot of control over it then it comes to school."
Some students said the girl injured in the fight was an instigator that had been in several fights before, and that she was the one to throw the first punch.
Principal Robertson says students encouraging the fight were also disciplined.
"We've gotta have kids that are making good decisions and choosing not to fight and we need support from parents that are gonna reinforce what we're trying to do here at school," he said.
He also said teachers are stationed throughout the hallways to monitor students, but can not possibly watch every spot every second.
"This is not typical of Red Bank High School. We have 750 kids every day that come to school that get along with their peers that come here to get an education and reality of it is we have kids that come here for other reasons," said Robertson.
