(WDEF) Students at six Whitfield County elementary Schools will nosh on healthier meals this year.
It's all thanks to the USDA's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program.
It allows students to enjoy a nutritious snack during the school day to help them stay focused on learning.
At least half of the students in school must participate in the free and reduced-price meals to be eligible.
The six elementary schools you see on the screen will get $4,500 to launch the program with an additional $25,000 in October.
