Tennessee's State Commissioner of Education received a warm welcome from the Chattanooga Rotary Club.
It was standing room only as Kevin Huffman talked about his concerns with the education system.
He said by 2015, he hopes Tennessee will be the fastest improving state in the county.
Huffman outlined several priorities today.
They include getting the best teachers.
He also wants professional development for those teachers, and to give parents more choices on where they send their children to school.
Huffman says, "We should be looking at how fast a school district improved, and last year Hamilton County improved more than any other school district in the region. And that's the way we should be measuring our success, not the absolute attainment, but how much were improving from where we are."
Huffman says Hamilton County's success helped get the No Child Left Behind Act waived.
