Another false threat of a bomb on campus strikes again.
Chief Robert Ratchford says the UTC Police Department has responded to multiple bomb threats in the past week, but still no suspect.
Chief Ratchford said, "We are addressing this fully with all the info we've been able to develop and are continuing to develop with the active investigation."
We wanted to know if other local universities have similar problems and contacted UT-Knoxville and MTSU, both have no reports of bomb threats this semester.
Chief Ratchford says four in a semester is unusual for UTC.
"This is a high number for the University. I don't recall in the past having received this many during this short a period of time."
There's even a Facebook page dedicated to the notorious issue with more than a thousand followers.
Recent comments from students show the growing frustration.
The page creator wrote on Thursday, "I'm getting sick of this. It's "fun" when it's once a year in the middle of a semester, but this is ridiculous. I hope this clown gets arrested, because he could be looking at some serious jail time."
"That is considered a bomb threat if it is baseless to begin with which is still a class C felony. It's a very serious offence.
The District Attorney tells us a crime like that is punishable by three to 15 years in prison and an up to 10 thousand dollar fine.
So who is to blame? Why are they doing this? Chief Ratchford says thats still part of the investigation.
"If it is to get out of class, if it is to get out of an exam, we're still going to continue with the normal flow of operation. We may have to reschedule, we may have to postpone it a little bit but they're still gonna have to take it, if that's what their basic motive for making these calls may be."
