The moral decline in America did not happen overnight. If it had, there would have been an outcry. It simply would not have happened. Our culture would have rejected the change. But it didn’t happen overnight. It took decades. Each moral concession made was barely noticed with the passage of time. I’ve used this analogy before, but I’ll use it again. A frog dropped in a pot of boiling hot water will jump right out. Put that same frog in a pot of cool water, and heat it to its boiling point, and that same frog will cook. It does not notice the slowly increasing water temperature, and suddenly it’s too late. That, dear friends, is how we’ve ended up here. But we can do something about it. And we must.

In Tinker v Des Moines Independent School District, the United States Supreme Court stated in their ruling: ..."In our system, state operated schools may not enclaves of totalitarianism." The Court further stated: "It can hardly be argued that either students, teachers (or visitors) shed their Constitutional Rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate." Students, teachers (and visitors) may exercise their Constitutional Rights to free speech and free expression while on public school campuses, before, after, or between classes, in the cafeterias, on the playing fields, or any other location, during noninstructional times. You need to know your Rights and stand up to the liberal,left-wing radicals that want to eliminate religion in America. If the school chooses to continue the prayer, it is well within its legal rights.

Students of different faiths and of no faith pay the same amount to attend this school and therefore deserve the same courtesy and respect. They deserve to feel comfortable. UTC athletic activities serve as a time for the school to unite as one body to have pride in our school. Endorsing one religion could make those who believe differently feel excluded from that time of school spirit. Put yourself in their shoes. Imagine if being a Christian was the minority, would you like having to sit through prayers to Allah or any other religion's God before you participate in most meetings or activities?
