Learning is always easier when the lesson is fun and exciting.
At Nolan Elementary there's a teacher who makes sure her kids don't get bored.
Kathy Taylor is this week's Golden Apple Award Winner.
Walk into Kathy Taylor's classroom and every child is paying attention.
Taylor says she learns just as much as her students...and the best lessons happen when everybody's interested, "If my teaching becomes boring to me I can only image how it must affect the children."
Taylor has spent 28 years in Hamilton County's Elementary schools...and her best fit is in the fourth grade, "They still are extremely eager to perform and please and they take their learning, this group takes their learning very seriously which makes teaching an awful lot of fun for me."
It was a lot of fun for Christopher Feemster too...
Christopher reads from his Golden Apple nomination letter, "She was always willing to take her free time to help our class if we did not understand something."
Three years ago the 7th grader was in Ms. Taylor's class and he's never forgotten her lessons.
In fact, Christopher says because of Ms. Taylor he's a better student, "She taught me how to work harder and make goals and reach those goals."
Christopher says not only does Ms. Taylor make sure everybody gets it, she keeps everyone's attention and makes learning fun, "I learned a lot more 'cause I was always focused."
Ms. Taylor wants that learning excitement for all her students.
She says the lessons in 4th grade aren't always easy...but watching her kids understand makes it all worth while, "It is so much fun. Because you know that you've made a difference and you've touched them in a way that for that given day hopefully is a successful moment for them."
