Kay McDowell never takes the easy way out with her special ed class.

When they wanted to go on a field trip, instead of saying no because of funding concerns, she helped them make crafts to raise money, and learn a vocation.

McDowell emphasizes her students abilities and not their "disabilities," and holds them accountable for their actions... instead of giving them special treatment.
