(WDEF) The Chattanooga City Council will soon learn more about how the community wants to develop the area.
City leaders say the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Agency's 25-year plan for the area is outdated.
So planning officials are asking the council to approve a new study.
It will look at how to combine transportation and zoning with land-use plans.
Melissa Taylor is a Director of Strategic Long Range Planning with the Regional Planning Agency.  She said, "So within the city we have about 27 plus neighborhood plans, and this framework, which we call growing forward, would look at each at each of these pieces, and think about them in a more integrated way."
The project called Growing Forward could include several phases.
