(WDEF) A pastor from Olivet Baptist Church gets to take his message of change to the White House.
Pastor Kevin Adams heads to D.C. Thursday as part of the "Gun Violence Prevention Champions of Change Program."
The goal is to bring churches across the U.S. together to curb gun violence by pushing for stricter gun laws.
Adams will meet with senators and congressmen and take part in an awards ceremony while in Washington.
He said, "As a pastor it's important to me, not for an awards sake or anything, but for what we're trying to do here in the community and that is to stop the violence and to curb some of the killing, to stop the killing in this community."
Pastor Adams hits the road early Thursday morning.
