CLEVELAND, TN. (WDEF) ---The Affordable Care Act is a fact of life, and will go into full effect December 31st.
U.S. Senator Bob Corker says it will likely have a major negative impact on small companies, and especially employees.

Regardless of your personal opinion of the so-called Obamacare---It's going to happen.
Tennessee U.S. Senator Bob Corker told the Cleveland Rotary Club that the controversial legislation could be mean big trouble for the American family.

SEN. BOB CORKER, (R) TENNESSEE "I think most small and mid-size companies are going to do away with their health care plan..I think they are going to find its going to be better off for their citizens..their employees..and better off with them."

Corker says those employees could become eligible for subsidies..but the cost will be huge.

SEN. CORKER "I just had Blue Cross in my office recently, I've had the other companies in recently. They are telling me that healthcare costs for small businesses my go up anywhere from 40 to 100 percent on January 1st."

The senator says many companies are trying to put as many employees as possible under 28 hours a week, because if they are under 30 the business does not have to participate in the health care bill.

SEN. CORKER "I think it's going to be as Max Baucus of Montana..a Democrat who by the way led the charge on the health care bill passing in the senate...recently said to Kathleen Sibelius....and these are his words...'this is going to be a train wreck."

Corker summarized a wide range of topics facing the congress..including some progress on the democratic/republican stalemate that held-up even passing a budget for 4 years.

SEN. CORKER "I think there is more of a sense in Washington ..Of people are sort of ..They're tired of this you know stalemate...tired of the issues not being addressed and ..You know I think the mood there is much better."
