If Hamilton county had intended to do something about controversial emissions testing, its too late now.

County Clerk Bill Knowles raised questions about the requirements, and pointed out that there was a window to seek exemptions.
One is about the treatment of the Check Engine Light at testing facilities.
Another asks that new car exemptions be extended from one to three years since the cars are still under warranty.
Knowles also suggested a one year waiver to new buyers transferring ownership when the vehicle is in compliance with the annual test law.
But, nothing will change.
Commissioner Jim Fields\County Commission Meeting
"We had a certain window of time where we could opt out of the early action plan. That time has long since elapsed and it does not appear that there is any action that we as a commission can take to eliminate the emissions testing."

County Commissioner Jim Fields made that announcement at the Thursday meeting.
