Last year more than 730 women in the Chattanooga area got diagnosed with breast cancer.
Thanks to on-going research, that diagnosis is rarely a death sentence.
Finding a cure is the goal of an event coming to the Hamilton County area for the first time this year.
Organizers held a kick-off breakfast for the "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" walk this morning.
It's been around for 20 years.
Now the American Cancer Society is bringing the walk to Chattanooga this fall.
Christy Johnson, American Cancer Society, "In this particular event we need teams. Teams that come together and say I want to make a difference against breast cancer. In order to become a team they can always call our office at 855- 2779 and we can get them started."
The walk takes place Sunday October 28th at Coolidge Park.
